On February 1st, The Adventure Project quietly launched, in a neighborhood community center, in the form of an online dating profile workshop. Although this is certainly not headline news, what’s amazing is that I stayed true to my goal of completing a 30-day launch…
On January 1st, I sat in O’Hare, in a snowstorm, wondering if I’d make it back to Denver that night, so that I could report to my desk the next day as the 30 days would not wait – even if I was stranded in Chicago in a winter storm. Luckily, after more than 12 hours of travel, I returned from the east coast ready to embark on a new adventure.
Adventures take many forms. This adventure meant that I was tied to my laptop developing a website, social media platforms, workshops and what ultimately became my brand. If someone had told me last year to “Find my adventure!” I’m sure I would not have imagined it this way. However, February came and the adventure officially launched!
During this first month I led workshops about creating an authentic online dating profile, becoming less introverted via improvisation and tapping into mindful living by practicing improvisation. I presented to Rocky Mountain Singles. I also discovered laughter yoga. I hosted a packed theater for two 3 Blind Dates performances. I even participated in an improv for singles workshop hosted by 3 Blind Dates. I started writing for Mile High Mating and MeetMindful while continuing my writing for elephantjournal.com. I entered a travel writing contest. I prepared materials for the We Move Forward International Women’s Day conference on Isla de Mujeres. And, I did improv via Skype for the first time!
By the end of the month, I had acquired a bad cold; but, I had many successes in my new adventure and I met lots of fun people willing – and wanting – to have adventures! It’s now March 1st and I’m excited to see what unfolds this month. While some of last month’s adventures are available again in March, there still remains a sense of the unknown as developing a business that embraces creativity, wanderlust and ultimately adventure means there are many things that just can be planned.
I look forward to seeing what develops. Thanks for being along for the ride!
